Project Transformative Help, Resilience, and Inclusivity for Violence Elimination (THRIVE)

Since 1978, the commitment of THRIVE remains steadfast in addressing violence issues within our community. The challenges faced by WAVI have evolved with the increasing demands of our growing client base. While WAVI continues to meet the high demand for services, the primary challenge lies in the day-to-day operations of our shelter and case management. A priority is addressing the daily needs of our clients, encompassing food, personal care items, financial assistance, housing support, and more. However, restricted grant funding often falls short in covering these critical expenses. This grant aims to bolster the operation of WAVI’s 56-bed emergency safe shelter and comprehensive case management services, ensuring the continued delivery of the high-quality services for which WAVI is consistently recognized.

Comprehensive case management support services include:

  • Emergency shelter: Provide a safe haven for survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking with trained staff.

  • 24-hour crisis line: Trained advocates offer emotional support, information, and encouragement around the clock.

  • Case management: Case managers assess client needs and assist in developing personal safety and action plans.

  • Emergency room response: Staff respond 24/7 to emergency rooms, offering support to survivors of sexual assault, domestic abuse, human trafficking, and stalking.

  • Referral network: Facilitate community referrals, including housing, education, daycare, employment, medical needs, clothing vouchers, legal assistance, and counseling.

  • Legal and court advocacy: Assist in filing temporary protection orders and stalking orders, accompany clients to court proceedings and interviews with law enforcement.

  • Community Education: Deliver education and prevention programs to community agencies, civic organizations, and area schools.

  • Support Groups: Organize weekly support groups for survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking.

Project THRIVE reflects our commitment to fostering transformation, resilience, and inclusivity while working toward the elimination of violence in our community.
